Welcome to the
Index
The Index is a good place to identify the terms used in the various policy documents. You can then use the Index to browse occurrences of these terms in the text of the policy documents or use the terms to create searches using the Search Function. The Index can be accessed from any page in this site using the Index link in the Navigation Bar on the left.
The Index is organized into individual indices for each of the policy documents. Clicking on a linked document title in the main text area or in the Navigation Bar on the left will display the index for that document. To browse through the entries in an index click on the letter tabs and letter range tabs at the top of the main text area. Click on the linked sub-section numbers next to the index entries and sub-entries to go to the text of the corresponding sub-section at the first occurrence of the selected term(s), with all occurrences highlighted. Clicking on the orange arrows before and after the highlighted term(s) will take you to the previous and next occurrences of the term(s), respectively, within the selected sub-section.

The Manual of General Policy (MGP) was created to provide the University community and others interested in the policies that govern the University with an easy to use reference manual. The MGP consolidates the non-bylaw policy action items passed from the Board of Trustees Minutes that are currently in force. In a small number of cases, materials from other sources have been incorporated into the MGP due to their importance in establishing University policy. The MGP is not a legal authority; in all cases requiring a legal authority, the text of the Board of Trustees Minutes or other original document(s) should be consulted.
- Records Retention and Disposition Schedule
The CUNY Records Retention and Disposition Schedule indicates the minimum length of time that college and University officials must retain records before the records may be disposed of legally. This Schedule is meant both to ensure that records are retained as long as required for administrative, legal, and fiscal purposes, and to encourage the systematic disposal of records that are no longer needed. This Schedule replaces the schedule issued by the University in 1993 and any other retention guidance that college and University officials may have adopted for their records. College and University officials should check with their Records Management Coordinator about any uncertainties regarding the application of this Schedule.
