Board of Trustees Minutes
The City University of New York is governed by the Board of Trustees (Board)—formerly known as the Board of Higher Education. After each meeting of the Board a detailed summary of the meeting is prepared by the Office of the Secretary of the Board for adoption at the next meeting. These Minutes of the Meetings of the Board (Board Minutes) contain items that include bylaw and non-bylaw policy actions item, non-policy action items, and information items, as well as discussion.
The Board Minutes are organized by year and then date of the meetings. From 1990 forward, minutes generally start with information sections identified by letters and often sub-divided into numbered information items. Action sections generally follow and are identified by numbers and usually sub-divided into lettered action items. Sections and items are assigned numbers and letters on the basis of calendars in advance of Board meetings. Due to changes made to meeting agendas subsequent to the distribution of the calendars, the numbering of sections and items is not always ordered or continuous and sections occasionally contain both information and action items.
